|TITLE:||Valentines: 11 New Works for flute|
Great creative artists know how to take advantage of serendipity in their work. This collection of Valentines is a case in point. When it turned out that Carol Wincenc’s Naumberg Retrospective Concert fell on February 14th, inspiration hit. She called upon composers that had written other works or concertos for her and said, “How would you like to write a Valentine?” This collection is the magical result. A variety of styles and moods by some of today’s finest composers, including Arnold Black, Lukas Foss, Henryk Gorecki, Tobias Picker, Christopher Rouse, Peter Schickele, Paul Shoenfield, Roberto Sierra, Michael Torke, and Joan Tower.
