|TITLE:||Away - A Fantasy on "Shenandoah"|
|DESCRIPTION:||AWAY is a one-movement fantasy on the folk song "Shenandoah," imagined as a musical journey down a wide river. AWAY progresses as a tone poem in eight scenes down the river, with characteristic variations on segments of the tune depicting: Currents, Concentric Ripples, Rolling River, Rapids, Waterfall, Calming Waters, Canyon Echoes (where the theme is finally played in its entirety by the flute, while the guitar provides the echoes), and finally coming to rest in Still Waters.
