FLUTISTRY BOSTON SUMMER REPAIR WORKSHOPS
LEARN THE BASICS OF FLUTE REPAIR FROM THE FLUTISTRY TEAM RIGHT IN THE HEART OF BOSTON, THE FLUTEMAKING CAPITAL OF THE WORLD!
Have you ever wondered what really happens during a Clean, Oil & Adjust (COA)? Curious about how pads are replaced, how leaks are fixed, or what repair technicians mean when they talk about shimming and regulation?
Join us this summer for Flutistry's hands-on Repair Fundamentals Class, designed for flutists, teachers, students, and anyone interested in learning more about how their instrument works.
Space permitting, we will be accepting applications up until the day before the beginning of each session. Reserve your spot today and discover what happens behind the bench at Flutistry!
- Step-by-step instruction for a full Clean, Oil, & Adjust (COA)
- Repair demonstrations & tailored hands-on practice

Participants will be responsible for bringing a playable/fixable instrument to the class to work on. We will vet every participant’s chosen repair instrument via email prior to each training session. We strongly recommend identifying a back-up flute or an instrument you are comfortable practicing on rather than your full-time flute, as students will be guided in implementing basic repair procedures involved with a COA on their selected instrument.
Understanding the basics of flute repair helps you:
- Identify common problems & warning signs before they become major repairs
- Communicate more effectively with technicians
- Improve instrument performance
- Extend the life of your flute
- Become a more informed and confident player, teacher, & musician
